I include one of the parts of the NFS series as such games — Prostreet. In the gaming environment, this part has a strange state and attitude in the minds of the players, which puzzles me.
There are games, despite their problems and flaws, that are loved by the gaming community, which happily corrects its shortcomings with the help of mods and supplements the content. And there are games for which everyone does the same thing, but only a small part of people, a small group, supports something that the larger segment of the public does not pay attention to. In the case of NFS: Prostreet everything is even worse, the gaming community is trying with all its might not to remember this game and not to notice.
A little historical background
NFS: ProStreet came out in 2007, between NFS: Carbon And NFS: Undercover. Let me remind you that before these parts I came out NFS: Most Wanted, which became beloved by the people, which has already begun to create an unfavorable environment for subsequent games.
When did it come out? Mostvanta in 2005, she created a kind of sensation. A large fleet of vehicles, tuning and styling, chases and destructible objects, and a well-crafted plot — all this is only a small part of the positive things that the public liked.
The next game was Carbonite , published in 2006. She moved the action to the night mountains, a fairly clear reference to the film “Triple Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift”, which was released a month before the game. A controversial statement, but knowing that the film was known before its release, this option should not be denied.
This part of the series was greeted cooler than the previous one. The general appearance of the game played a lot, which spoke about the crudeness of the project, as well as some things that were removed from the game. If we talk about what was added to the game (compared to the previous game), then this is drift and team members, each with their own role and behavior on the track.

Trying to change NFS

After release Carbon, the gaming community is frozen in anticipation of a new game, with fear that everything will be worse, but also with hope that the developers will take the best of Most Wanted and make it even better. Need I say that the new project did not live up to expectations??

There were also technical errors in the game, some were fixed by the developer, others with the help of the fan community, and others… impossible to fix due to the difference in OS versions. Support from a small group of people who love the game is comparable to support Vampires . Players fix bugs, improve graphics, improve bots and their behavior on the track, etc. d. But even the vanilla version can be played and enjoyed.
The main problem for us, the players, is that the community did not support the game well, it became a testing ground for the series Shift, where they abandoned the idea of combining the arcade and driving style of NFS with the simulation component of simrace games, and decided to move on to more simulation. And now I’m not talking about pseudo-simulators, which neither arcade players nor sim racers need, but about games that unite both camps.
IN Prostreet arcade control cocktail (more precisely, adapted for the keyboard) and good car physics, gives a truly interesting gaming experience. This is one of the few games that combines “stupid” compression of the gas pedal with timely braking before a turn and calculation of the car’s trajectory (taking into account the weight and behavior of the car when turning). I’m one of those people who hate Electronics for translating the series into FrostBite. For reference, look at how the car behaves in the BF series of games, and also think about how a shooter engine can be suitable for creating racing games? The answer is no way. And the new NFS parts prove it.
