I should probably have said last time that I myself am a big fan of the series, and for good reason. LiS gave me a lot of emotions, both positive and depressed sides. Also, probably, it was not worth giving examples with other companies and it was necessary to describe in more detail what was wrong with Life Is Strange 2, and not for nothing, because “to work by 7” and in general I tried to cover everything I wanted to say, and in a hurry. Well yes lan. (although I have already deleted the previous blog)
When I said that Dontnod’s games are “so bad they’re good”, I didn’t mean that they were “terrible”, I just needed to file them and remove unnecessary moments. Including Life Is Strange 2. And I want to write about it in more detail, so that my conscience is clear and no one else understands me "wrong". If you’re interested, there will be a lot of spoilers here, quite a lot of criticism, abstract thoughts and subjectivity, which you may not agree with, but I will try sort everything out. Let’s call it"mini History series". I won’t hide spoilers.
For Life Is Strange 2, I pre-ordered as a “bundle” from episode 1 to episode 5 for 1.3k rubles, because I completed the first part and Before The Storme in one run and 2 times each, and was sure that LiS 2 would be the same as the original, or at least not ruin the ideas of its predecessor. After all, at E3 2018 they showed us a teaser of LiS 2 and showed "The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit", a small episode about a boy, the inventor Chris in the world of Life Is Strange. And I’ll be honest, I was blown away by this episode while I was waiting for the 2nd LiS.
There are so many interesting ideas about how he comes up with a way to defeat his worst enemy, assemble a DreamTeam and go to other planets in search of “adventures” (although as it turned out later, he actually went to “other planets”). And the firecracker in the snowman’s nose, which we can blow up with the “power of thought”, that was cool. Well, kamon, we were all like that in childhood, we came up with different stories, we all exaggerated, we dreamed, we drew, etc. And his adventures were diluted with cool mini-scenes, like when we enter a dark room where there is a washing machine. And such moments were enough for 2 hours to captivate you. It was interesting to walk in and around Chris’s house. And I had to look for the “password” for the phone in the VK comments in order to play this “mini” game a little. Bottom line: Cute, kind and enticing enough for its 2 hours. I advise you to play by the way.
And so I waited for Life is Strange 2. My joy was so great, it was as if I had sex. At this very moment,people are divided into 2 camps, I chose the side of the “defender” of the game, the excuse being that they would still accelerate, like, the first episode, just the beginning, getting acquainted, etc. The opposite side mostly had excuses like “UUUU, I’M NOT A WOMAN, AND THAT MEANS I WON’T PLAY” or “UUUU, THERE’S A RACIST WHO TELLS THE MEXICANS ABOUT THE WALL, THE GAME IS INVOLVED IN POLITICS, EVERYTHING, DIZBAAAAAN” or even words about the “price tag” of the game, but there were few adequate ones (with ru(hehe) community), so they said it correctly. (Although in reality, the redneck actually said one phrase about the Mexicans and the wall against them, and the rest of the time he only talked about what kind of criminals Sean and Daniel are.) So here it is.
In the first episode, we https://theredlioncasino.co.uk/ were introduced to 2 new main characters, Mexican brothers Sean (senior) and Daniel (junior). And they also rolled out Sean’s friend, Lila. A rather sweet character, but you spend so little time talking to her that you can’t get used to it, but you fall in love with her and hope for “salvation” in the future (and judging by the dialogues, their branch is worked out to the smallest detail). We walk around the house, look, communicate what, how and why. We communicate with dad, brother, Lila, we are thinking about taking money from the piggy bank or not, and in general, what is better to take to a party (I will definitely come back to these moments). At the same moment, it turns out that our younger brother began to play “how to get a neighbor” and doused his neighbor (who, by the way, has been constantly pestering and bullying Sean since the second one arrived in his house) with paint. Sean, like a true brother, stands up for the younger one, and during the fight KILLS COMPLETELY BY RANDOM his neighbor, the cops immediately arrive, see what the hell is all this, then my dad comes out, and the cop, out of the blue, KILLS OUR FATHER. For no reason. This is how things are in the USA, they want to hint to us. Cops kill people indiscriminately, even though the law prohibits them from doing so unless the suspect did anything illegal. And our dad’s hands were empty. Here is the first SPGS line. And “unexpectedly” our brother Daniel receives the superpower TELEKINESIS and destroys everything around him, and after recovering from the shock received by the wave of telekinesis, Sean comes up with a not the best plan to escape from home. Taking Daniel in our arms and grabbing the briefcase in which all our things were lying that we managed to take from home, we leave the city.
After a day of walking in the woods and constantly lying to my brother, we take a short break in the park. This episode is not notable for anything other than the opportunity to walk around again, listen to the sounds of the forest and look at a cool view. Then they eat, sleep and continue walking, as we learn in PUERTO LOBUS. Our GG will pronounce this so often in Mexican (after all, he is Mexican) that we ourselves will begin to pronounce this phrase one on one with their accent. The next stop is a gas station, where we do shopping, if we try to steal, then our youngest will also try to steal something, but unsuccessfully and very stupidly, because he is small and repeats after you, and you are an experienced thief, you are no stranger to. We sit down at the table, eat, and then this very episode happens with a RACIST KIDNAPER, who talks about the wall, and locks us in some closet, beats us there until the police arrive, and at one moment leaves to run after our youngest. He is looking for him in the forest, and at this time Daniel comes to us, and with his help we get out, where we are again attacked by a racist, but Daniel again has a “attack of telekinesis”, they grab everything they can and run away, running into a blog writer, Brad, who helps them escape. Along the way, they travel through Arcadia Bay, the city from the original game (your choice at the very beginning will only affect how it looks, destroyed or not). In my choice, Chloe and Max are still alive). Then they arrive at a motel, stop there, Brad helps them stay the night, and then leaves, leaving them to their fate. And then, a little later, our younger brother finds out about his father’s death, and again causes a “telekinesis attack”, which Sean manages to control and.. All.
Do you hear what I mean?? This episode is just very dull, like a landing pad, it’s good, as a narrative it’s very crumpled, illogical and derivative. The spirit of the original LiS is not felt. You just run through it and can’t taste it or get carried away, and the second time you go through it, you play it more dullly. THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT PROBLEM OF THE FIRST EPISODE, IT’S VERY DULL. That’s why there are such small sales, and not because there are no two lesbians, or no sisters at all. You are not distracted by the word AT ALL. Murder of Dad passes, and game resets pace of the story at complete zero. While the first episode of the original gave at least some kind of riddle and itself asked many questions, which were then answered, the first, second game simply gives you a platform to take off. Like, here you go, implement it and think of it however you want. People just weren’t interested in watching it. If you were watching streams and not playing, then you were obviously bored. Yes, and I only passed it the second time, but.this is LiS, I passed it. And I really hoped.
5 MONTHS PASSED
While we were all happy or disappointed with the new products of 2018, Dontnod did not stop working hard. Once a month (or more often) according to the “developer’s diary”, they began to release official and canonical a comic based on the original LiS, where Chloe and Max are alive, but Arkady was destroyed by a hurricane (I’ll write about it later). And all this time the developers gave it their all. And finally he came out. And he came out, and he was not greeted in the best way. Some people had problems with the purchase (or rather, you can’t buy it separately, or a pack, or just the first episode), for others it simply simply crashed when loading, then files broke, then numerous bugs break the game and start early, t.e people’s mood was already ruined, and ratings suffered greatly.
I was fine with it, the minimum number of bugs and crashes, everything installed perfectly and worked. Sometimes there were drawdowns, but nothing can be done about it.
3 weeks have passed since the first episode, our heroes are still alive, with them their new dog — Mushroom, and they themselves live in an abandoned house and lead a homeless lifestyle. Torn clothes, rummaging through garbage dumps, but Daniel clearly learned to use his telekinesis, and began to control it very well (I was scared at some points). But with this came trouble. T.Daniel is still small, he has a very weak immune system, and because of this he got sick. The guys, without thinking for a long time, decide to hit the trail. morning > morning comes and the guys, before leaving, send their dog for a walk, but bad luck, the dog disappeared, and then Daniel disappeared, they are nowhere to be found, Sean, in their footsteps, finds blood, which clearly was not there, and also finds a bandana that was on Mushroom. WHAT’S HAPPENED? The mushroom was attacked by a PUMA(. ). At that moment I almost hurt my head. It’s so mediocre to drain the dog, you have to try harder. And this is provided that they live next to a river, where a dog could accidentally fall, or get out and get sick > die, or drown and it would be more touching and would wet more tears. And my fear increased about what would happen next. Back to Puma. At this moment we decide whether to give Puma to Daniel to be torn to pieces, or to let her eat the dog and run away. The choice is yours.
Having buried the dog, they move on, pass through the river, where they could do a small mini-quest, where Daniel could build a bridge from logs, and thereby cross it. It would be cool, but no, they just move on. They walk for a long time and reach the house of their maternal grandparents, who agree to accept them, at their own peril and risk, but on the condition that they live by their rules.
A WEEK PASSES FROM THEIR LIFE. The guys don’t go out of the house further than into the backyard and don’t blow their whistles at all, everything is great. T.Daniel is curious and wants to know where the room is where their mother lived and what is there. Sean tries to dissuade him, but we’ll get to that later. And Daniel is getting better and better in all respects, he has recovered, and he is also using telekinesis better and better, lifting plates into the air and knocking down doors. And only we decide how he will use it, but that’s not about that now. Grandma sends them to the barn for toys, and during this time we can walk around the house, look and play with a large model with trains, but we still go to grandfather, who guesses about Daniel, but we can tell, or turn on the fool, the choice is yours, he talks about a broken wardrobe, etc. We take the key from him and go into the backyard to the barn and at that moment we see a familiar picture: Our old friend CHRIS, from the adventures of “Captain Spirit”, falls from a tree, and Daniel saves him, making him think that Chris is “unusual”. At this point, Daniel and Chris begin to become friends. And on the trail. day Daniel comes to visit Chris, where he, like, “raises toys in the air”, and we decide, What would: Daniel tell Chris the truth, or stop doing this, or leave everything as it is. The choice is yours. Having met Chris’s father, the guys decide to go to the "fair" to get a Christmas tree. And at this moment you think “WELL WHY, THEY WILL BE FIGURED OUT AND STUPIDLY SALTED 2 MORE CHARACTERS”. And in the end you turn out to be right… Well, it’s too early for the end. And your choice doesn’t affect anything. Arriving at a small fair, we decide to buy a gift for my brother, but I don’t know what. While the children are running around and having fun, you 100% come across a guitarist who will sing very beautifully,and it’s up to you to decide should I give her $1?. Having bought a gift, she will 100% start a conversation with you, after talking a little, she and her friend leave this very fair, because of some next racist who drove them away, AND WHO OBVIOUSLY recognized our “heroes”. And we buy a Christmas tree, leave and Father Chris has a small conversation with you, which, with the right answers, can result in something interesting. But I couldn’t, so what next?. We go home, and Daniel lights up and wants to know what’s going on in this room where their mother lived. Choose or don’t choose, you’ll still break the door. They enter this room and find a letter where their Mom asked Grandma and Grandpa to look after them. Suddenly, grandparents come, a quarrel arises, where the first say that they were lied to, and that it’s time to forget old grievances, and the second want to live according to their rules, and Daniel wants to go to Mom, and Sean still insists on "Puerto Lobus". At this time the grandfather went to his room. While the quarrel is going on, the grandfather falls CLOSET. And it’s up to us to decide whether to cripple our grandfather and lift the cabinet by hand, or give it to Danial, where he will lift it using telekinesis, the choice is yours.
As a result, the police arrive, who arrived on a tip from that eccentric from the fair, and the heroes decide to run away. And then I had an embarrassment, and such a hard one, after that I’m really wrong about LiS 2, but it has every chance of becoming the story of the year, and finally making completely non-linear game. The point is this:
When Sean and Daniel run away from "Pensions" Grandparents, a second cop car pulls up and notices the brothers, and then, judging by your choices, the moment happens (4 in total):
A) Chris runs out onto the road and is hit by a car. B) Chris runs out onto the road and Daniel saves Chris. B) Chris looks after Sean and Daniel. D) No one is chasing anyone and the brothers quietly leave.
At that moment my pattern broke, and I thought that LiS 2 has every chance, despite the stupid cougar and the closet. And it doesn’t matter what I said yesterday, wrote last time, etc. Opinions tend to change, and when you seem to want the best, and as a result an innocent person dies, excuse me, GREAT. When there is no right or wrong choice, when something always influences. This is the very moment when you realize that Life Is Strange 2 is a good and soulful game. When you supposedly said to just stop using "telekinesis" but didn’t tell Daniel to confess, and as a result the little boy dies.
Forgive me for the blackness, but this is 8 out of 10. This is good. THIS IS THIS and the scenario had to develop (although I passed it 3 times). Only sometimes it still accelerates just as slowly, has a bunch of bugs, as well as many illogical moments, etc. And I wrote everything so crumpled, not because I write so poorly, but because the script is really non-linear and it’s difficult to adequately perceive it in the first days (in a good way).And I really recommend going through it 2 times to get different emotions.

Money decides a lot in our world, and clearly no one wants Dontnod to close down. I just wanted to show how people are wrong about LiS 2, including me. Play, this is a CPGS game, look between the lines, don’t be inadequate, who don’t think critically, know how to think. Including me.
